No back roads, the only gravel you will drive on is in our driveway!
We guarantee your ride times within 5 minutes (10 for the 2 hour

We have the widest variety of ride times 1/2 hour to 2 hours.  Ride
for 1/2 and gain your confidence or ride for 2 hours for the more
experienced rider.
Our horses are all very gentle and responsive.
You come as a group, you ride as a group, we will not split you up.
We will arrange our guides to oversee your children.
Friendly, courteous staff.
We normally send 2 guides on the trails unless it is a smaller group.
We keep our horses well groomed and maintained.
We have the largest array of trails in the Salt Fork Region.  Even
different hour trails, so our repeated customers, don't have to ride
the same trail over and over.
Schedule a hayride and horseback riding at the same time.  Let the
little ones enjoy the hayride, while the others follow behind on horses
on the same trails.
Conveniently located 3 miles east of Salt Fork State Park, also near
Tappan Lake, Piedmont Lake, Seneca Lake & Clendenning Lake,
just to mention a few vacation spots.
Come meet & greet the horses before you ride.  You are more than
welcome to come in the barn and pet the horses before the ride,
they are kept in box stalls so you can meet them face to face.  (if you
can get their heads out of their hay!!!)
Our trails were established over 30 years ago.
Why would you choose to ride with us?
This horseback riding facility was established over 30 years ago by
Chester & the late Marjorie Gray, you may have known it as Gray's Salt
Fork Stables.  It was a very popular place to hang out and bring the
family.  Some of our riders today, remember riding here 20+ years ago
as children!  The stable (just the business, not the farm) was sold so
Marjorie and Chester could retire and enjoy themselves without all of
the hard work.  The new stable owner, kept it in operation at the same
facility, then decided a few years later to move the horses to their own
land and operate there.  This left the place kind of quiet.

Since then Chester sadly lost his wife and very avid horsewoman,
Marjorie, horses and family were her life.  Chester decided to lease the
stable so he could see things like it used to be.  With the kids running a
playing in the yard, and always a friendly face he could tell stories to!!
If anyone knows Chester, he loves to tell stories!!  To keep it short the
leasing didn't go over so well.  Myself and Jill who were working at
Little Sky Riding Trails, decided we were going to get a couple horses
and board them at Grays.  We came here in 2004 and have been here
ever since, BUT......we have a few more than a couple of horses!!  We
reopened the stable in 2006 and continue still today. The decision was
made to keep the name Salt Fork Stables, because this is where so
many families came to enjoy themselves, and it is a name that brings
back memories to many.

We work very hard to try to keep our facility up and running.  There are
380 acres here and we do all of the brushogging, hay baling, mowing,
tractor fixin' (we try anyway!!) what ever we need to do, and it is just
myself, Jill and Chester, who is now 86 and we still just can't keep up
with him sometimes!!

We don't claim to have the best horses, or the best facility, we just
know we work very, very hard and take pride in what we do here and
what we have accomplished.  We enjoy what we do and until someone
drags us out of here, this is where we will be!!
(Besides, if you ride with us....it gets us out of doing
real work!!)
A little bit of history..............
